How To Tie A Bow Tie

Lift your collar and hang one end of the tie about an inch lower than the other end.

Cross the long end over the small end.

Bring the long end up through the V and create a simple knot like with shoe laces.

Now take what started as the small end and fold it over on itself with the middle under your chin. One end should have a loop. The loop should be on the opposite side from where this part of the tie started this step. Hold this in place with a finger.

Now take the other end and bring it over the middle of the now folded piece.

Take the loop side and the open side of the small folded piece and pinch them together and pull outward a bit to reveal the hole.

Take a finger and push the hanging part through the hole. The top of this part of the tie must go through first to produce a loop. Trying to push through the middle or the end won't produce a loop once through the hole.

You can use another finger to get the rest of the loop through the hole, but after a little of the loop is through, let go.

Start adjusting the tie into place. There should be one loop on either side plus one open end on either side. Pulling on the loops will tighten the tie. Pulling on the open ends will undo it. Straighten the tie to your liking.

Never try and make the tie look perfect. It's supposed to be a little off.

This guy held down the corner of Graham and Withers literally every single fucking day. Hottest day of the year, he was on the corner. Coldest day with the worst windchill ever, he was on the corner, chillin, waiting. 'Oh, it's snowing out'-he was on the corner. If someone was throwing out a chair nearby, he would sit down, but otherwise, always standing. I think he changed his coat each season and that cowboys jacket never looked right on him for some reason.

I never spoke to him but would give him a simple head nod now and then and he would give one back. Just always wondering what he was doing out there all the time.

There used to be an old Italian social club on the first floor of our building; it's where the Al Pacino character from Donnie Brasco hung out and where he kept his tiger or lion or whatever viscious cat he owned in this dug out cave in the basement. The basement was seriously creepy, people were killed down there and it had that feel to it. One day, my roomate Frank was trying to open the storm cellar door that's on the sidewalk and leads to the basement. He was going through a bunch of keys looking for the right one, trying different ones. Someone behind him says "I think this one might work," holding up a key. It was him.

Found out today that he died. Wish I knew what he was watching over. RIP.

Hey guys (and girls...eww yuk),

I wet the bed until I was 13 years old. With that being out in the open, many of you may or may not know that we [at Graham Withers] have been learning how to make neck ties!

It is true that at Graham Withers Clothing Company we're always looking for creative ways to innovate creatively while reducing redundancy.

Our goal for our ties was to develop an innovative cut, develop an exceedingly innovative shape while using the most innovative fabrics and patterns. We decided early on to move straight past the " skinny tie" idea because so many semi-innovative companies we're trying to innovate that aspect of the market.

We spent a considerable amount of time in discussion, saying things [in a feminine voice] like: "Oh my god, like sooo over it!!!", "Yeah ok, if this we're 2007!!!" and "INNOVATE!"

These days because innovation is the name of our game we began to think..."what has no one ever done before?" - The answer was "obV!!!" - "The Tiny Tie" - and "The Little Tiny Tie" were born and innovated.

With that being said Graham Withers is proud to give you a sneak peak at "The Tiny Tie" and "The Little Tiny Tie" before they hit the markets!!!

*DISCLAIMER - This is a joke, we are not really making "Tiny Ties". Think about how ridiculous this is. I can't believe I have to write this.

It's been a while since the last Graham Withers Blog post. Just to keep up-to-date, all of the millions of people who check this blog hourly, here is what we're doing this weekend....

This weekend we'll be going to the garment district in the city to pick out some cool fabrics and letters for our crew neck sweatshirts (available this fall)

Being that we've never done anything like this before, we hope it goes something like this...

Paul and I drive to the "Garment District" via the exit off the FDR that reads: "Garment District - Letters for Crew Neck Sweatshirts" - easy enough so far.

Upon exiting the FDR we arrive in the Garment District at a store appropriately named - "Letters and Fabric for Crew Neck Sweatshirts for Sale to Aspiring Clothing Designers".

We are then greeted by a valet who takes our car to a private parking spot as a doorman opens an umbrella to shelter us from the delightful sun shower coming from the heavens.

As we enter "Letters and Fabric for Crew Neck Sweatshirts for Sale to Aspiring Clothing Designers" a bell boy offers us hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail; we smile politely and decline as we agreed that we are here solely for business matters.

Upon looking the around store, we become a little overwhelmed at noticing an assortment of over 1,000 different fabrics and letters available in every color of the rainbow.

I turn to Paul and say: "This is overwhelming, it could take days...no...months - nay... 1 year to choose a fabric suitable for the letter that will go on our crew neck sweatshirts(available this fall)"

Paul turns to me with his eyes already shrink-wrapped in tears and gleefully pouts: "look behind you..."

I look...

What do I see?

A small roped off section of the store with a sign that reads "Letters and Fabrics that Induce Intense Desires for Crew Neck Sweat Shirts (when applied)"

"Wow" i think to myself.

Astonished at how smooth this trip to the "Garment District" is turning out, Paul and I both look at each other and simultaneously state: "This is fuckin so fuckin sick dude-man-bro-guy...JINX!"

It was - it was fuckin sick, and to make this unbelievable story even more unbelievable, the letters 'G', 'R', 'A', 'H', 'M', 'W', 'I', 'T', 'E' and 'S' we're all marked down by 90% of their orig price.

We know a good deal when we see one - were not fucking retarded, we grab up all of those fuckin letters mannnn...and we just fucking put them shits in a fuckin bag man...and we say to the guy working at that register - "yo store attendant mothafucka, how much for these fuckin letters...bitch."

The store attendant calmly gazes back at us with kind eyes, unruffled by our unnecessary, abrupt change in attitude and replies: "They're all yours guys, today is Free Lettering and Button Day - I WISH YOU THE BEST!!!"

We didnt need any fuckin buttons so we grabbed our bag of letters, gave that asshole the finger and GOT THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!

"Fuck you ass hole" we yelled back at the store attendant as we raced out; bag of letters in hand.

Our car was already out front, running, with the radio tuned to CD101.9 "smooth jazz" - We placed the bag of letters in the trunk, got in the car and drove to New Jersey for no reason.

Paul and I didn't speak the entire ride, but both of us knew what the other was thinking - "If this car was a boat we would get so many more chicks"

The LB fair or "My nightmare lurking on a bench"

Roma and I shamefully did the Long Beach fair today. On Firday night, forecast said 80% chance of rain, and I was awoken at 3:30 am due to loud rain and bright lightening. Those sound like terrible 80s hair bands or 2003 emo bands but whatever, whenever it's not just the thunder waking you up, shit is getting real outside.

At 6:30 Roma calls me to say "Don't leave right now, I'm not setting up in this shit." So a half hour later I leave. While experienceing otherworldy terrential downpours under crazy blue skys, my straight sailing out to Long Beach is interruped by a felled tree draped across all three lanes of the meadowbrook parkway. Miraculously, about 6 carloads of people had parked on the meadwobrook and moved that fucking asshole of a tree off the road.

At the fair, the rain actually stopped and the sun came out for a bit, and Roma and I started on a banger of a rap song, but the people stayed home for the most part. Someone asked if I was Graham. Roma at one point told someone I was Withers. The humidity plus salt water air smelled like a geriatric death. Roma avoided the sun with vampiric precision. Our mothers showed up. Roma argued with the inventor of the t-shirt.

This thing is gnarly as fuck. You have a 12 inch gap between the curb and the rail. On the plus side the ground is smooth and the grass on the opposite side will save you should you fall OVER the rail; fall in the other direction and may god rest your neck piece.

Ha this ledge is sick, so many possibilities. i never skated it but it looks like the quintessential 3 trick security guard kick-out to fakie ledge.

These flatbars are not as high as they look in this photo; maybe knee high. Good ground - not sure about the bust factor tho.

Metal guardrail/flatbarish kinda thing. Roll up is kinda rough but not bad. No bust, store is out of business.

You may know about this one - 4 flat 4 and you can fly over the rail if you feel like gettin' busy
